HIGHLAND PARK

Highland Park is a historic park in Meridian. This park was built in 1908 and features the Jimmie Rodgers Museum, the Dentzel Antique Carousel, a swimming pool, a duck pond, Frank Cochran Center, Kendallwood Craft Center, two tennis courts, two baseball and softball fields, four picnic pavilions, two basketball courts, a state-of-the-art playground, restrooms, and the Parks and Recreation administration offices.

BONITA LAKES PARK

City-owned park situated on three lakes, including Long Creek Reservoir, and Lakeview Golf Course. Beautiful, relatively primitive park featuring nature trails, a jogging and walking track, horseback riding, playground, picnic facilities, boat ramps, and fishing. Entry is free.

Planet Playground at Northeast Park

Planet Playground, a 10,000-square-foot playground built totally by volunteers, is also located at Northeast Park. Admission is free, and it is fun for the whole family.

DUNN’S FALLS - ENTERPRISE

The 65-foot waterfall was once used as a power source for a gristmill and the manufacture of Stetson hats. Historic Carroll-Richardson Gristmill is open for tours. The park is a natural wildlife refuge with a picnic area with barbecue grills, a gristmill pond, hiking and swimming areas.

Kid-Friendly Features: Not handicap or stroller accessible. Be cautious on the long wooden staircase that leads to the river. Rocks and surrounding areas can be slippery. Bathrooms are located on the property.

Admission: Day use for adults (12 years old and up): $3.25 per person;
Day use for kids (2-11 years old): $2.25 per person;
Day use for kids under 2 years old: Free;
Day use group rate (15 people or more): $50.00
