Discovery Night is MCM's signature family fundraising event hosted by MCM Partners. Held to coincide with the Mississippi Science Festival, this special evening celebrates children’s literature and delves into the fascinating world of science, technology, engineering and math (STEM). MCM is committed to positively influencing literacy development in children by enhancing reading readiness and improving literacy skills, fostering a love of language and of books, encouraging children who are already reading to read more, and promoting reading as an interactive, family activity that everyone can enjoy. MCM is also committed to developing in children critical thinking and communication skills, creativity and collaborative, real-world problem solving by engaging them with innovative science and math-based exhibits, programs, and special events. Developing these skills is vital to the creation of lifelong learners, and promoting positive futures for Mississippi’s children. The proceeds from this event help support MCM’s Literacy and STEM Initiatives as well as provide critical operating revenue that will enable the museum to remain accessible to all children.
Children are naturally curious and love to discover formulas and use their imagination to invent. This year’s Discovery Night committee selected this theme to encourage children to expand their horizons through experimentation!
We will have fantastic food and drinks, along with fun musical entertainment, special activities and a raffle.
