On behalf of the Mississippi Department of Agriculture and Commerce, we are very excited about the opportunity to welcome you and your family to the 161st Mississippi State Fair! This year, many of us are finding ourselves facing extra challenges, many stemming from the COVID-19 pandemic. In these unprecedented times, it was especially important that we carry on the long-standing tradition of bringing the Mississippi State Fairgrounds to life for 12 days of fun-filled family entertainment. Our staff has taken extra precautions to keep our visitors safe. While the look and feel of the State Fair may seem a bit different, the Mississippi State Fair continues to offer many of the fun-filled family events that are not only entertaining but also educational for fairgoers. Once again, the 105-acre Fairgrounds is transformed into an exciting amusement park filled with the most delicious Fair food, carnival rides, games, shows and contests. We are proud to offer numerous livestock shows that give our youth the opportunity to show off their top animals, along with their skills, that they have dedicated so much of their time and energy raising. One of the newest attractions is the Ag Expo in the brandnew Mississippi Trade Mart. The walk-through exhibit will teach fairgoers, young and old alike, about the importance and diversity of agriculture – our state’s largest industry. While there, you can shop a variety of great Genuine MS® items at our first ever Genuine MS® store. Spectators and participants will find excitement in the musical entertainment for all ages. Brand new this year is the addition of the Timberworks Lumberjack Show. Watch these men and women participate in log rolling, axe throwing, and more. Our dedicated staff at the Mississippi Department of Agriculture and Commerce will be handing out hot, homemade biscuits at the Fair’s famous Biscuit Booth on the Midway. This year, we’ve created a fun video on the history of the Biscuit Booth. I plan to be there every day on and off to personally meet and welcome you to the Fair. Make the most of your visit by following the schedule of events and activities in this book. For more information, including concert and event schedules, a map of the attractions, livestock show information, the parked car finder and more, download the Mississippi State Fair’s free mobile app. Also, we would like for you to share your pictures and memories on social media tagging the Mississippi State Fairgrounds on Facebook and @msstatefair on Instagram and Twitter.
